PORTHCAWL: THE VIEWS and the EXHIBITION
At 9 a.m on the 10th of January, 2012 my wife Sheila and I took all my photographs to The Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl where we met up with Natalie Harpin, the exhibition organiser. Natalie has been so very kind and without her this event would not have been possible. We the got to work hanging up my photographs. I was so pleased at the instant response as it was all so positive. People were so kind, and when the place opened up at half 9 for business the comments from the public were a delight. By 11:30 a.m I had sold 2 photos and been asked to take other photos; and this was all before the official launch !!
Passing the Pavilion mid day on the 11th and seeing so many people dining amongst my photos was an incredible feeling; felt so good.
That evening at the launch, I met 3 wonderfully kind and positive artists who were great to talk with. The speeches were lovely and so kind, and it was nice to know that people were off to the box office in the days and weeks to come to purchase my work.
These are a few pictures from those 2 days.
11th January 2012, a large selection of my photographs will be exhibited and on sale at The Pavilion, in Porthcawl. South Wales. I am thrilled at this wonderful opportunity, and hope you will be able to attend. The exhibition starts at 7 p.m on the 11th of January and goes on until the 21st of February

I have named my exhibition
WHERE MY DAD LIVES, simply because Porthcawl is where my Dad lives !!
This wonderful town is a place my wife and I love visiting time and time again. Porthcawl people are so warm and friendly.
I would like my photographs dedicated to a very good friend of mine, who sadly died in 2011, and who encouraged me to do so much with my photography. She was not only supportive but was such an incredible inspiration.
That lady was JEAN LEWIS, and I miss her very much.
These are my photographs, and my name is Richard Rhys Lloyd.
I was born in Bridgend in 1962, but have lived in Leeds, West Yorkshire since 1998.
Despite having a stammer, I have never allowed it to stop me getting what I want out of life.
The British Stammering Association has been so supportive over the years. They’ve helped me achieve so much.
I now work for West Yorkshire Police, after having cared for those with learning difficulties most of my working life.
I'm a very happy husband, father and grandfather...and owner of a menagerie of pets.
Photography has been my 1st and only interest since I was a young lad who tried to photograph ants !!
As I’ve already mentioned, my father lives in Porthcawl, and in 2009 I cycled all the way from Leeds to his house in time for his 70th birthday. This was in order to raise funds and awareness for the British Stammering Association.

At my recent photo exhibition in Porthcawl, still going on by the way !, a lady by the name of Mavis said she loved my shot of the pier but would prefer a different view of it. So next day, my wife and I went out and I snapped away. These are just a few of the views I came up with. Some I risked my life taking.....on the edge of a very high wall with rocks below. Things I do to get a good shot !!!!!! The other images are of the coast, amusement park and harbour
